Monday Social Round Up: How to Migrate your Facebook data to Google plus?

So you’re probably planning on migrating all your data from Facebook to Google Plus. Switching from Facebook to Google plus seems to be a preposterous idea considering all your friends are on Facebook and moreover all your photos and videos too are on Facebook. The problem: You've built up a lot of friends, photos, videos, and other data on Facebook over the years, and you don't want to simply lose all that data. Thinking to transfer all that huge data one by one might seem a very difficult task however if you liked the user friendly interface and are interested in making the move we will help you with the easiest ways to do this.

Here's how to migrate it all from Facebook to Google+.
Migrate Your Friends

The easiest way to migrate your Facebook friends is to import them through a Yahoo email address.
To do this, head to mail.yahoo.com and click the Create New Account button (if you already have a Yahoo or Flickr account, you can skip this step). Once you've created an account – follow some simple steps :
·  Sign in to your Yahoo account
·  Go to your contacts tab
·  Select 'import contacts' option
·  Choose Facebook option
·  Check if you have all your contacts there
·  Go to your Google plus account and go to Circles
·  Click Find and invite
·  Select the Yahoo button and send the invites
·  Organize your invited friends into Circles
It might be possible that many of your friends are already on Google plus so when you add them in Circles you will be surprised to see many of them in this new Social network already.
Migrate Your Photos

Migrating your photos from Facebook to Google plus is not a difficult task at all. It is ridiculously easy with the Move Your Photos Chrome extension. Install it, click on its icon in the extension bar and follow some easy steps :
·  Log into your Facebook account
·  Click on the "Move Your Photos" extension
·  Select the photos you wish to move and the photos will be automatically uploaded to your Google plus account
·  Don't close the window or log out till you see the progress bar in the right hand corner
Once you have done you can see all your photos in Google plus. You can set the privacy settings on each album using the “Edit” link under the “Visible To”. By default the privacy settings will be set to private.
If you do not want to use Chrome,  you can grab a similar extension for Firefox. You will have to download each folder individually (One by One). So, I recommend you to use Chrome, it is much faster.
Migrating Your Videos

This is quite a heavy task as you need to first download each video to your computer and then upload it on Google plus. So if you have a limited data plan avoid this step.

Anyhow, if you want to transfer in any case follow these steps:
·  Log into your Facebook account
·  Go to your account settings
·  Click on "Download Your Information"
·  Click on the “Learn More” link and click on the Download button. It will take a while to complete
·  You will receive a mail on the registered email account with a link to proceed
·  download a ZIP file full of your photos, videos, and profile information
If you have a lot of uploaded videos on Facebook a few of them might go missing. However, I was still able to download that video from Facebook by installing the Video Download Helper extension for Firefox to first download the video to your computer and then upload it to your Google plus account.

So now if you have everything on your Google plus except some of your friends then there is a solution for this too. Use Chrome and Firefox extension "Start Google+". This will let you toggle between Facebook and Google plus. Icons for both will be shows in the upper-right hand corner. Any update you post on Google plus will be duplicated on Facebook just by clicking on the Facebook button after posting the update in Google plus. You can also receive updates from friends using the Feed feature of Facebook which will be plugged into Google+ feed. There are more options for these purposes, choose what suits you the best.
